The Lawson Program allocates time on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoons for various extra curricular workshops and activities. Monday afternoons are set aside for gardening and during this session we work in our vegetable, herb and succulent garden, sowing seeds, planting, feeding and mulching. Our harvested produce is shared with Ray, our Rivendell School chef, who adds the herbs and vegetables to his cooking for student morning teas and lunches. This week’s garden session involved making plant markers from paddle pop sticks and sowing zucchini seeds which we hope to transplant to our vegetable garden in the coming weeks.
Our Tuesday and Thursday afternoon sessions are spent learning a new skill such as photography, playing sport or drawing by the river. Earlier this term we used the time for collage and here are some photos of our creative process:
