Our staff and students are lucky to be surrounded by such beautiful, lush school grounds , situated along the banks of the Parramatta River. We like to do our part to keep our school clean and rubbish free. Like previous years, we continue to be involved in Clean Up Australia Day for Schools. This is a great opportunity for our school to take an active role in making a positive impact on our local and much loved environment.
Clean Up Australia also encouraged us to explore the topic Plastic Pollution in the Science Learning Centre this week. Students learnt all about the Great Pacific Garbage patch and the impact litter has on our oceans.
On Friday 28th Feb, the sun was shining and our enthusiastic students and staff put on their gloves, grabbed their garden tongs and worked together to collect as much litter as possible; always being mindful of sorting the rubbish from the recycling. Each program did a fantastic job keeping our grounds clean. We found many old shoes, a fire extinguisher and loads of plastic. We collected approximately 12 bags in total, ending with a very full skip bin!
