Last week we “farewelled” six of our Year 12 leavers who achieved the award of Higher School Certificate this year. The event was full of emotion from staff, students and guests as we celebrated this huge milestone as a school community. The day involved a special lunch for our Year 11 and 12 students, where they enjoyed Thai food, listened to music and took photos together under the graduation banner. Then a formal ceremony commenced in the Grand Hall, with a whole school assembly attended by Year 12 leavers’ families, friends and members of the community who have worked with our students along their journey.
Our six school leavers, many of whom have been at Rivendell for several years (starting in a variety of Rivendell programs before graduating from the Sulman program this year) are all excited about what the next step of their educational journey involves. All the leaving students have now applied for university and/or TAFE, and are eagerly awaiting the results of their exams. The desired fields that our students are keen to start a career in include nursing, art education, history, creative arts and primary school teaching.
This milestone is no easy task for anyone, and we are immensely proud of our students – all of whom have overcome significant challenges throughout their schooling to earn this well-deserved award. Their perseverance, dedication and personal growth has been truly inspiring to us all. Well done Year 12 leavers!
