There was an impromptu afternoon Art Workshop at Rivendell this week. The students learned a few techniques to produce a quick watercolour landscape sketch, with amazing results!
The techniques taught were:
- Composition:
- Horizon
- Sky
- Middle Ground
- Foreground
The sky started with a wash of plain water, then paint dropped in. The students then used a clean brush and tissue to produce the clouds. The middle ground and reflection were created with a damp brush.
The water was then created with a damp brush and a streak of paint to create the illusion of sunlight on the water.
Dry brush was then used to create the foreground grass and the pine trees. A Watercolour Workshop will commence in the second half of the term.
