This term in textiles workshops, student have had a lot of fun making Sock Monkeys!
To create your own little friend all you need is a pair of socks, two buttons for eyes, some stuffing and a needle and thread! One sock is used to form the body and legs of the monkey and the second sock is cut to create arms, ears, a tail and the monkey’s nose. See the how to diagram that students made below.
Students developed their hand sewing skills and learnt how to thread a needle, how to create a strong running stitch and how to attach buttons. We loved making these little monkeys and already have plans to make other little critters from socks in the future.
