This week, Rivendell students attended the ‘Big Day In’ excursion at Sydney Distance Education High School (SDEHS). The annual event is an interactive opportunity for students who study via Distance Education to visit the Woolloomooloo campus, meet with their teachers and connect with other students from all over Sydney.
The day kicked off with a whole group Cyber Safety presentation, where students were notified of the features of the new eSafety Commissioner (which is a national initiative set up to create safer experiences online for all Australians). This was followed by the entertaining Histrivia (History themed trivia) where one of the Rivendell groups came a very commendable third place! The remainder of the day involved students travelling between different technology themed workshops. Some of the favourites included:
- Exploring Music Making
- Interactive Board Games
- Robots and Coding
- Appropriate Yourself (Green Screens and Graffiti)
- Bike N’ Blend
- Recycling T-Shirts and Infinity Scarfs
- Baby Animals
- Showcase of Short Films
There were also lucky door prizes given out at the end of the day, which were won by THREE of our students! Staff were impressed with how well the students represented Rivendell and the students look forward to what is in store for the ‘Big Day In’ next year!
