Walker Newsletter Term 4 Week 9

Bringing Christmas Spirit to the Learning Centre

This year we have decided to bring Christmas sprits to the ward by creating our own decorations. Each of us is a different creative spirit and together we have brought our Classroom to life. So many colours and patterns have come together to represent our different personalities and what we love most about life. At the centre of our decorations we have created Christmas tree. Each of us created a bauble and wrote what we are grateful for on it. Some of the things we are grateful for are:

  • Kindness
  • Tasty Food
  • Gardening
  • Music
  • Ocean
  • Ice-cream
  • The Earth

It is always important to remember what we are grateful for, because it helps us focus or the positive. What are you grateful for Christmas Holiday?

We have so much to be grateful for, and making the Christmas decorations has brought us all together as a team & Brought Joy to us all.

Walker Competition

C.M developed the idea of publishing a Walker riddle with a prize to bring people together and promote the newsletter.

Her main idea was to put the clues in acrostic form:

Recorded by a Tommy

outside of Australia

rock climbers won’t always need a jacket

a triangle fits here

I like toads

ascended for the first time in the 1800’s

If you look down the column, the first letter of each clue spells out the answer.

The answer is Mount Roraima in Venezuela/Brazil/Guyana which was succesfully guessed by a student (M) in Yaralla. There is a native toad that lives there called the Roraima Bush Toad, it was discovered by Englishman Sir Walter Raleigh, it was first ascended in 1884, the triangle part refers to the three countries whose borders meet within the mountain.

Thank you to all of the students who enthusiastically participated. We are aiming to have another competition in Term One.
