Rivendell’s school library, which is situated within the Lawson program, just got even more relaxing! Encouraged by the students’ love of reading, the staff decided to create a “chill out” space where students are able to peacefully curl up with a good book.
Students are regularly encouraged to read during English lessons, homeroom breaks and during their personal free time; and are delighted to now have a nice, cosy place in which they can do that.
Filled with plenty of sensory stimulating fabrics and items such as furry pillows, sequined cushions, beans bags and comfy blankets, the space is the ultimate place to unwind. Having a designated quiet area is particularly appreciated by the students of Rivendell who may be feeling anxious or overwhelmed and need a safe, comfortable place to relax.
Use of the space is available to all Rivendell students, not just those within the Lawson program. As long as they are supervised, students are welcome to use the space to read, draw, listen to music, or just “hang out”. I think a few staff members may be inspired to use the space themselves!
