On a sunny Wednesday morning on the 13 of September at Rivendell School Concord, an event was held in the school grounds. Rivendell staff and students along with staff from Concord Hospital helped put together a great morning tea named the book swap. The book swap was put together for a special reason, which was a donation for the Indigenous literacy society but it came with a twist. The twist was that if you made a gold coin donation you would be able to purchase a book and with the money you gave it will help to improve the equality of opportunities for our Indigenous people. If you’re wondering where the money will be going and how it will help, well your donation will help provide books and literacy programs for the Indigenous youth communities where help is needed most
On my behalf I can say everybody committed in taking part with a positive attitude and all the students and staff took part in different ways such as organising the event, setting up and making cute posters and morning tea. Many of the people who purchased books sat in the courtyard and started reading.
In total the event raised $112.00. Thanks!!!
